macOS users: when you first open a version you have downloaded, macOS says it cannot verify Logodenn. Click Done, then open System Settings › Privacy & Security (System Preferences › Security & Privacy on macOS 12 and earlier), scroll down, click Open Anyway next to Logodenn and confirm with your password. You do this once for each version you download (see Bug fixes).
Windows and macOS users: after this update, enter your license key once with Activate license. From then on, Logodenn keeps it (see Bug fixes).

New features

  • Distance — Add Distance, in the Measure section of the Library drawer, draws a dimension from one object's surface to another. Drag, or click once on each object. The dimension shows the direct 3D distance with a double arrow, and its text always faces the camera. Esc or a right-click cancels. A locked object can be an end point, and a hidden one lets the click through. Distances go on the measurement layer, take its colour, are saved with the show, and Ctrl+Z undoes them.
  • Distance card — double-click a dimension to open its card: name, Measured length, Text offset (m), Text side (Above / Below) and Text orientation (Parallel / Perpendicular).
  • License revoked screen — if the license server reports that your key has been revoked, Logodenn shows a License revoked screen instead of the editor. Your plots and show files stay on your machine. From there you can Re-activate with the same key or a new one, or Deactivate to remove the revoked license.

Improvements

  • 30-day trial — the free trial now lasts 30 days instead of 14. A trial already running is extended to 30 days from your first launch.
  • Ruler colour — a ruler's axis, ticks and labels now take the colour of its layer, whatever colour source is selected. Move a ruler to another layer or change the layer's colour, and the ruler follows. A ruler on the default measurement layer still looks the same.
  • License panel — Settings and the editor's License window show the same panel: your license status, your license key (read-only, so you can copy it before moving your license to another computer), and the Deactivate and Re-activate buttons. The buttons are always there; each one is greyed out when its action is not possible.
  • No restart for license actions — activating, re-activating or deactivating a license takes effect at once. Logodenn no longer reloads the window.
  • Clearer license errors — each license error now says what went wrong: no internet connection, license server busy, key not recognised, key already active on its maximum number of computers, system clock out of sync, or a venue Wi-Fi or firewall intercepting the connection. Each error also offers Open log folder, so you can send the log to support. When Logodenn can't confirm your license at startup, its screen now says what to do (reconnect, set your clock, or update Logodenn) instead of always asking you to reconnect.
  • Keychain warning — if Logodenn can't read or save your license in your system's keychain, it now tells you once, instead of losing the license without a word.

Bug fixes

  • On macOS, a downloaded Logodenn would not open: macOS said the app "is damaged and can't be opened". The app is now signed ad hoc (not yet notarised by Apple), so macOS asks you to allow it instead (see the note at the top).
  • On recent Linux distributions (Fedora 44 and others) with Intel, AMD or open-source NVIDIA (NVK) graphics, the AppImage showed only an empty window at launch, with "Could not create default EGL display: EGL_BAD_PARAMETER" in the terminal. It now starts normally.
  • On Windows and macOS, the license and the trial were never saved on the computer. Logodenn contacted the license server at every start, and an activated license was lost when you quit. They are now stored in the system keychain (Credential Manager on Windows, Keychain on macOS).
  • The trial welcome message and the "days remaining" reminder came back every time you opened or closed a show. Logodenn now checks your license once per launch, shows these messages once, and stops the 30-minute reminder as soon as you activate a license.
  • The editor's License window always said "Status: Active", even during the trial. It now shows your real status.

New features
  • Solo, Hide All and Reveal All — in the Layer and Class drawers, the S button of a row shows only that layer or class and hides the others. Hide All and Reveal All switch the whole list in one click. Objects with no class are not affected by the Class drawer.
  • Layer order — drag a layer by its handle to move it up or down the list, or click Sort A→Z to sort them by name (LX 2 before LX 10). The new order is saved with the show and used everywhere layers are listed: Scene Hierarchy, Layer dropdowns, the dossier legend, Select → By Layer, layer cycling and the MVR export.
  • Layer groups — put layers into folders with New layer group, then drag layers in and out. A group folds and unfolds, and its eye, lock and S act on every layer inside it. Ungroup puts the layers back in place without deleting any. On MVR export, a grouped layer is named Group / Layer.
  • Highlight — the H button of a layer or a layer group fades every other layer, so you can see one part of the rig in context. It is temporary: it is not saved, not stored in Views, and never appears in a PDF or a thumbnail. Click H again or Reveal All to clear it.
  • Label distance per View — in the Views drawer, the Labels block of a view has a Label distance (m) field: how far the labels stand from their fixture or truss. Each View keeps its own distance, and the active View updates at once.
  • Move labels by hand — select fixtures or trusses and press Ctrl+L: each label of the last selected object gets a handle. Drag a handle to put that label where it reads well, and the same label of every selected fixture and truss follows. Each View keeps its own placement, the PDF shows it, and Ctrl+Z undoes a move. Esc or Ctrl+L again leaves, and Reset Label Placement in the right-click menu puts the selection's labels back. Needs an active View with labels shown.
  • Open log folder — the new Troubleshooting card on the About page, and the license and connection screens, open the folder of the support log. When you report a bug, attach logodenn.log and its older copies. They now record errors, crashes and the Logodenn, system and WebView versions.
  • Submit a ticket — the footer of Home, Shows, the GDTF browser and About opens the ticket form on logodenn.tech with your version filled in, and shows the real version number. The footer also has Open log folder, so the log to attach is one click away.
  • Text Field formatting — a Text Field now looks on the page as it will in the PDF: same Roboto font, sizes in pt. Its toolbar adds underline, strikethrough, superscript and subscript, Font size on any selection, Text colour, Highlight, Clear formatting, justified text and Line spacing.
  • Headings, lists and quotes in a Text Field — Text style turns a paragraph into Heading 1, 2 or 3. Bullet and numbered lists nest with Tab and Shift+Tab, and the toolbar adds Quote and Horizontal rule. You can also type them at the start of a line: # for a heading, - or 1. for a list, > for a quote, --- for a rule. Shift+Enter starts a new line in the same paragraph.
  • Links in a Text Field — select some text and press Ctrl+K to link it to a web page or an email address. Links are clickable in the PDF, and Ctrl+click opens them from the editor.
  • Image block — the new Image block puts a logo, photo or drawing from your computer on a page (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP or SVG). Drag a corner to resize it without distorting it, and double-click it to pick another image. The image is saved inside the show, scaled down to 2000 px if it is larger.
Improvements
  • Label spacing — the distance is now measured to the edge of the label, so a long name or a multi-line label on the left or right no longer overlaps its fixture.
Bug fixes
  • Showing a view in the technical file, or exporting it to PDF, made that view the active one in the Views drawer. The View you were working in now stays active.
  • In a Text Field, clicking another block did not save the text, and the mouse dragged the block instead of placing the cursor or selecting words. Now a click anywhere outside saves the text, the mouse works inside it, and Ctrl+S saves while you type. Switching to another window no longer closes the editor, and leaving the show no longer loses what you were typing.
  • Settings had a license key field that stored the key without activating it. Settings now shows your license status and an Activate license button. When there was no license and the trial could not be checked, Logodenn showed a connection error: it now says Activation required and offers Retry trial check. An invalid key and a network problem during activation now show different messages.

New features
  • Truss model preview — the Truss Card now opens with a thumbnail of the truss as it appears in the scene: its imported model or its built-in lattice.
  • Change a truss model — from the Truss Card, Replace model… swaps the model of an imported truss, and Use a 3D model… gives one to a built-in truss. The file is checked before anything changes and the thumbnail previews it. The change applies on Save; Cancel keeps the current model.
Improvements
  • One undo per bulk edit — a bulk edit across 40 rows now takes one Ctrl+Z, not 40. Bulk edits of Layer, Class, Position and Focus Point can now be undone too.
  • Undoable Selection Resume edits — Position and Focus Point changes made in the Selection Resume can now be undone.
  • Template import back to pick-and-import — Camera, Layer and Table Setup templates return to choosing a template and importing it, and Save as Template for Table Setups is back in its templates panel. This undoes the 0.0.11 change, which could hide a newly saved template until the show was reopened.
  • Log files on Windows — when the usual log folder can't be written, the app now writes its log to the temporary folder, so support can still see what happened.
Bug fixes
  • Trial — on computers where the system keychain refuses to save the trial token, the app could end up showing the offline screen to users still in their trial. The token is now kept in memory for the session, and the failure is logged.
  • Remove from Group no longer pulls a fixture off its truss in an imported MVR where a group contains rigged trusses. Only a group's direct members count as its members.
  • Opening a show saved before 0.0.7 now tells you how many objects the group conversion moved to the active layer, instead of moving them silently.
  • Local library — a truss placed from the library keeps its 3D model on the next save, and a primitive keeps its own colour instead of taking the layer colour. If the library can't be read (locked file, permissions), the app now reports it instead of showing an empty library that the next change would save over, erasing every saved item.
  • The Library drawer no longer widens with long truss or scene-object names; the 0.0.11 fix was incomplete.
  • Templates — the suggested template name no longer matches an existing one, so pressing Enter can't overwrite a saved template by accident. Imported cameras are added after the show's own cameras, which stay untouched.
  • Bulk edit — the bar's count matches the rows actually written ("Edit 12" no longer writes 8), a 1/10 range now reaches its upper value, and 101+ numbers rows in the order currently shown, even after sorting. A range that crosses a layer or group heading no longer renames the heading, and clearing a number cell no longer makes the object vanish.
  • Technical file — Scene Table blocks now print the fixtures inside a group, and totals count only fixture rows, not layer or group headings. The on-screen preview refreshes after an edit.
  • Scene Hierarchy rows get their separator lines back.

This version adds a GDTF editor to the Fixtures drawer, so you can correct a fixture type the manufacturer got wrong without leaving Logodenn. It also continues the rework of the editor drawers, one drawer at a time, so that they all work the same way.
Linux users: Logodenn now also comes as an .rpm package, for Fedora, RHEL, openSUSE and the distributions based on them, next to the .deb and the AppImage.
In background logodenn updated its development dependencies providing fresh tools.

New features

  • GDTF editor — Edit GDTF, on a fixture type of the Fixtures drawer, opens its GDTF in the drawer, in sections: Identity, Physical, DMX Modes, Wheels, Models and Revisions. A changed value is marked until you save. Save never touches the manufacturer's file: it writes a corrected copy, {name}_logodenn.gdtf, into your local fixture library, adds an entry to its revision history, and switches every fixture of that type in the open show to the corrected file in one step. Ctrl+Z undoes the switch. If you leave the editor with unsaved changes (back arrow, another drawer, closing the show), Logodenn asks you to Save, Discard or Cancel.
  • Identity and physical data — correct Name, Short name, Long name, Manufacturer and Description, then Weight, Leg height, the operating temperature range, Power and Power factor. When the file's power input already gives the power, Power and Power factor are read-only and say which figure the show uses.
  • DMX Modes — read each DMX mode as an address chart, channel by channel, with its legend and its unused addresses. Mode name renames a mode (e.g. "Mode 1" → "Standard 16bit"); the fixtures of the open show keep their mode under its new name. Shows that already use the corrected file keep the old name, and the editor tells you so before you save.
  • Wheels — rename the slots of the colour and gobo wheels and change their colours, so your paperwork shows the names and colours of the real wheels.
  • 3D models — the Models section lists the 3D models of the fixture type and their files. Replace… swaps a faulty model file for a corrected one of the same format. Length, Width and Height resize a model, and Fit to mesh sizes it like its mesh, keeping its largest side.
  • Live 3D view of the fixture — while Models is open, the editor widens and draws the fixture in 3D beside the list, with your changes. Original and Corrected switch between the fixture as saved and as you are correcting it, and a DMX mode picker chooses which mode is drawn. Select a part in the view or in the Parts list to see it highlighted.
  • Move or turn a part — the Part gizmo moves or turns a part of the fixture in the 3D view, and the parts attached to it follow (move the yoke and the head comes with it). The X, Y, Z and Rot X, Rot Y, Rot Z fields set its exact position, and a button puts the part back where the GDTF has it. Snap moves in steps of 1 mm and 5°.
  • Turn or recentre a mesh — the Mesh gizmo turns the mesh of a part inside it, for a model that came lying on its side or off its axis: −90° / +90° about X, Y or Z, and Min, Centre or Max to align it on the part's origin. A turned mesh is saved in the corrected file.
  • RPM package for Linux — download the .rpm and install it with your distribution's package manager (sudo dnf install ./logodenn-*.rpm on Fedora).

Improvements

  • All row in the Layer and Class drawers — Hide All and Reveal All are replaced by an All row at the top of each list, laid out like a layer or class row. Its eye hides every layer (or class) when they are all visible, and shows them all otherwise; a dimmed eye means some are hidden. In the Layer drawer, the row also has a padlock that locks every layer, or unlocks them all when they are all locked: locking clears the selection of every object on those layers. Showing every layer still clears the highlight, as Reveal All did.
  • New layer groups appear at the top — New layer group now adds the group at the top of the Layer drawer, right under the All row, and scrolls the list back up if needed, so you see it straight away on a plot with many layers.
  • One template row for layers, cameras and table setups — the Layer drawer (Layer Templates), the Cameras section of the View drawer (Camera Templates) and the Scene Hierarchy drawer (Table Setup Templates) now have the same row, with Save Template and Load Template. Save Template lets you name the template and tick which layers, cameras or table setups go in it, instead of saving them all. Load Template lists your templates on the left, each with its number of entries and a trash button, and the selected template's entries on the right: tick the ones to bring into the show. Saving under a name already in use replaces that template, and the window says so first. Templates saved with an earlier version load as before.
  • Several table setups in one template — a table setup template used to hold a single table setup, named after it. It now holds every table setup you tick, under the name you choose, so the whole paperwork for a type of show (patch, dimmer check, focus notes…) travels as one template. Loading it adds each table setup you tick to the saved table setups of the show. A table setup template saved with an earlier version shows up with one entry and loads as before.
  • Scene Hierarchy table scrolling — the table rows now scroll independently, keeping the Setup, template, search and table action controls within reach as you move through a large show.
  • Estimated power — when a fixture type's GDTF gives no power figure, Logodenn now estimates it from the fixture's light sources. The estimate is marked ≈ in the Scene Hierarchy table and in the legend of the Technical File, on screen and on paper, and a tooltip says it is an estimate.

Bug fixes

  • Some fixture types — the Prolight BLINDER 2 PRO and 4 PRO, the Elation BLINDER 700 IP, the Showtec Sunstrip Active MKII — were drawn with their parts out of place: a blinder's head under its base, the lamps of a strip facing sideways. Every GDTF is now read in its standard orientation.
  • Some fixture types, such as four Robert Juliat models, showed a power of 0 W: Logodenn read a DMX input listed before the power input. The power is now read from the power input (600 W for these).
  • Some fixture types, such as the Dalis 860, were drawn with the wrong 3D model file of their GDTF. Logodenn now always draws the model the GDTF names.
  • For a fixture type whose GDTF file has no thumbnail, the Fixtures drawer kept reading the file again and again in the background, for as long as the show was open, even with the drawer closed. It now reads each file once.
